Since 2013, I have been heavily engaged in several positions in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as follows,

Community and University Services

Since I joined KFUPM in 2013, I have been heavily involved in many KFUPM committees and community service initiatives. At KFUPM, I am the chair of the EE graduate admission committee and a member in the department strategic planning committee. I was also a member in the university student fund, housing and textbooks committees. I am the chair of the IEEE Saudi Arabia section and I have contributed in the technical committees of the local and regional IEEE conferences and workshops.


My contributions to the community of KFUPM include:

  • Served as a member in 3 university committees: Academic Textbooks, Students Fund, and Housing.

  • Served as the chair of the EE graduate admission committee since 2014.

  • Served as a member in the EE strategic planning committee since 2016.

  • Served as the advisor for the EE Club 2015-2016.

  • Served as the counselor for the IEEE KFUPM student branch 2013-2017.

  • Coordinated 6 short courses offered by the EE department.


My contributions to the professional community at large include:

  • Chaired the IEEE Saudi Arabia section since 2018.

  • Organized more than 120 local IEEE events that attended by more than 5,000 professionals and students.

  • Coordinated the student activities in the IEEE Saudi section between 2016 to 2018.

  • Chaired the 1st IEEE GCC Students and Young Professionals Congress, 2017.

  • Served as vice-chair of the 2nd IEEE GCC SYP Congress, 2019.

  • Served as a member of the organization and technical committees for 3 IEEE conferences.

  • Served as a technical session chair in two IEEE conferences.

  • Judged student poster competitions in 5 conferences.

  • Delivered two invited talks.

  • 60+ papers have been reviewed for international journals and conferences.
